"WE CARE ABOUT OUR MOTHERS": ROTARY BRINGS ANTE-NATAL SUPPORT TO EXPECTANT WOMEN IN KADUNA

Fifty expectant mothers in Bayan Dutse, Narayi, Kaduna received free ante-natal and post-natal kits on Wednesday as the Rotary Club of Kaduna Metropolitan and Rotaract Club of AP Smart College of Health Sciences and Technology marked Rotary’s Maternal and Child Health Month.

The outreach was held at the Primary Health Centre, PHC, Bayan Dutse.

Sarkin Narayi, His Royal Highness Chief Sule Garba, commended the clubs and urged them to extend similar interventions to other communities in Bayan Dutse and Narayi.

Representing the President of Rotary Club of Kaduna Metropolitan, Rotarian Peter Matthew Onoja, the Vice President, Rotarian Ilyasu Yusuf, said the gesture was to complement government efforts in maternal health. He noted that Rotary operates on the principle of "Service Above Self."

President of Rotaract Club of AP Smart, Miss Anita Vincent, said maternal and child health is one of Rotary’s seven areas of focus. She called on the public to join Rotary and Rotaract in humanitarian service.

The Matron-in-Charge of the PHC thanked the clubs for choosing Bayan Dutse for the 2026 outreach and appealed for the gesture to be replicated in other PHCs in the area.

Assistant Zonal Coordinator Rotarian Aisha Ismail and Project chairpersons of both clubs and student nurses from Rotaract Club of AP Smart also sensitized the beneficiaries on personal hygiene and post-natal care for mothers and newborns.
